3 Things To Consider Before Purchasing Your Lifted Truck

by Alex Hale

If you are in the market to purchase used lifted trucks for your business, then you'll need to consider a few things before you sign on the dotted line. Doing your homework before buying your vehicles will help ensure that you get the right trucks for your business model. Making the wrong choices when buying your used lifted trucks may end up costing you more money than if you bought brand-new trucks. Here are three things to consider before purchasing used lifted trucks for your business and why they are so important:

Replacement Value Of Parts

While your lifted trucks may come with extended warranties, you will still want to know how much replacement parts cost in the event of a mechanical problem. Purchasing used parts for your trucks costs significantly less than purchasingnew parts; however, buying used parts is your own personal choice.

If you need further guidance on which types of parts would suit your trucks better, refer to the owner's manuals or discuss it with the auto dealer. Ask the salesperson if he or she has an estimate on the cost of the following parts so that you can effectively budget your money for potential future repairs:

  • Battery
  • Brakes
  • Hydraulic Hoses
  • New Engine
  • Tires

In addition to the parts themselves, ask the truck dealer representatives if they service the trucks that they sell. It is often a good idea to have your trucks serviced where you purchased them, but again, this is a personal preference based on cost, location, and whether the dealership provides loaner lifted trucks for you to use while yours are being serviced.

Vehicle History

Another important thing to consider before you purchase your lifted trucks is the history of the vehicles. You will need to know this in order to make an informed purchase. Here are things to find out about the trucks before making your purchases:

  1. Ask to review the maintenance documentation or records. When you do, you'll know if the vehicles had any major overhauls or significant mechanical problems. While these problems may not deter you from buying the trucks, you should be aware of their repair histories.
  2. Find out what the trucks were used for and how many hours a day the trucks were in operation so that you can be sure that the vehicles will meet the requirements of your business model.

Warranty Specifics

Your used lifted trucks may come with either extended warranties or very limited-time warranties. Even though the dealership may recommend a warranty company, the truck dealership is typically not the company that issues the vehicle warranties, as these are usually provided by outside companies.

Find out as much as you can about the warranty company to determine if they are financially stable enough to cover potential repair costs for an entire fleet of lifted trucks. In addition, try looking up online reviews to determine if the warranty company has good customer satisfaction ratings when it comes to resolving problems with their warranty-holders.

If you happen to discover negative information about the warranty company, it should not be a reflection on the lifted truck dealership. These are usually two separate entities, and you are always free to choose a different warranty company than the dealership recommends, as they only provide you with suggestions as an extra favor to you.

If you are in the market to purchase used lifted trucks for your business, consider the above information before making your purchase. Doing so will help ensure that you do not spend more money than you have to, and in the long run, doing so may save you money in repairs and lags in your business productivity due to your trucks being out of service..
